Experienced Horsemanship Coach

Kati Turcotte, founder and owner of KT Horsemanship,

is a partnership-focused, natural horsemanship coach and instructor based in Northwood, N.H. Kati’s mission is to help humans build safe, fulfilling partnerships with horses. She works with clients throughout New Hampshire, from seasoned horse owners to beginner horse enthusiasts, helping them to understand the horse’s natural instincts and communication methods and discover what they bring to the partnership.

Horses have been a part of Kati's life from a very young age. She would spend her weekends at the barn with her aunt and grandmother riding any horse that she could. Fear of horses was not something she had experienced until after a very bad accident at the age of 7, leaving her hospitalized for months.

Once recovered she worked with Quarter Horse trainer Frank Darling from Rowley, Ma. Frank taught Kati that no matter how small you are, you can be a leader to the horse. Kati went on to compete at a local and state level throughout her teen years. In her late teens and early twenties, Kati went on to be head groom for the Fitzgerald's at their private farm in Hamilton, MA, grooming for Dutch Certified Dressage trainer, Roel Theunissen at Wadsworth Farm in Danvers, MA, followed by training young paint horses at Mishawum Farm in Freedom, NH.

At the early age of 22, Kati founded Autumn Sky Farm, LLC, her first boarding and training facility in Brookline, NH. Using the skills she had learned from Frank and learning from her own mistakes with the numerous horses she rode and worked with she went on to develop a successful training program of her own. During this time of taking in privately owned horses, Kati quickly learned how much the people needed training more than the horses. Transitioning from training horses to teaching people was seemingly harder than she thought. But her students were patient and her lesson program grew. After 4 short years Kati was facing a divorce with a new business and 2 young children. in 2008, her confidence in her teaching grew when 90% of her students followed when she moved to her new facility, Halona Stables, LLC in Deerfield, NH. While in Deerfield, she went on to achieve her PATH Certification to add therapeutic riding to her lesson schedule. Unfortunately, it was all too much and in 2016 Kati decided to move just her small herd of lesson horses to a private barn in Deerfield, where KT Horsemanship was born.  It was an adjustment to go from having a beautiful heated indoor arena to an outdoor facility but it was all worth it. Until Bailey, her main lesson horse unexpectedly had to be euthanized due to colic in 2019. Kati decided to take a break from horses for a while and learn more about personal development and fitness. Both skills that she is using to advance her program as she comes back into the world of horses in 2024!
